Iowa

In June 2014 I rode over to Iowa for the weekend to see The National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. I had heard about it, but this was the first time seeing it. They had a varied selection of motorcycles there, many of which I was not familiar. I don't know the history of these makes and models, just pretty much know about BMWs. It's in a large facility and it was filled.

The highlight of the museum to me was seeing a Husqvarna 450 motorcycle ridden by Malcolm Smith. If you don't know who he is, then you don't know the 1971 film On Any Sunday. I can tell you; I was excited enough to ignore the 'Please Do Not Touch' sign and I actually touched the throttle . The same throttle Malcolm touched! Made me feel like I was a member of a notorious gang, such a rebel...

It was still fun to see the museum and glad they are preserving motorcycle history. Total miles for this trip was 658 miles (1,059 kilometres).

Anamosa, Iowa - Found something interesting. Speaking of found, founded in 1989, the museum always draws the right crowd.

Anamosa, Iowa - Evil Knievel's 1972 Harley jump bike, obviously intact. Now that's a museum piece.
