In mid-September 2024 I flew back to Canada to stay through the end of September before driving back home with my brother. I was up in Canada earlier in June and July, but flew home. I'm back! As a side note, my one brother was also flying back to Calgary with me since he had flown back home for a quick stay at home. We were completely surprised to find out the airline upgraded us to business class. That was certainly nice...
There is a Terry Fox Run in September that takes place every year in Canmore, Alberta and in fact in towns all across the whole country. It's a fund raiser for cancer in honor of Terry Fox. We usually volunteer to help set up, take down, or traffic control. This year we helped set up the registration tents, then took our place at a couple points along the route to direct the participants down the right path. Did I mention they provide Tim Hortons?
We ended up driving to Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia for the Columbia Valley Classics annual car show. It's about an hour 45-minute drive, but the scenery is great as you drive through the Rockies in Banff and Kootenay National Parks. This was not the first time going, but every time it has been an incredible show. It was a beautiful sunny day and over 1,000 cars showed up. We make sure we get there early so we can get a parking space in town, there are a lot of people that show up for this.
The weather in September was really spectacular, sunny and warm. Because of this, we were still able to do more hiking around Canmore and in Banff National Park before we took the long drive back home.
