In February 2025 I flew to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend my 3rd BMW Airhead Super Tech Day. Instead of driving, flying let me get there Friday afternoon and return Sunday evening. Saved me lots of time and extra hotel charges. I planned on only going to the BMW Super Tech Day and not do any sightseeing.
The BMW Airhead Super Tech Day is held in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. I rented a car at the Philadelphia airport, so it was about a 60-mile (97-kilometre) drive. This is a long weekend of seminars and discussions about the classic BMW Airhead motorcycles with the 247 engines. The 2-cylinder boxer engine is air cooled (thus Airhead) with 2 valves per cylinder. Some of the seminars included a hands-on experience. There is a great deal of knowledge shared at these events by those who have the background to know their stuff. They include some lunches and dinners as part of the package too for the weekend, which makes it nice since you don't have to go out and find something on your own. Lots of lively conversation. This is my third time attending. Some of the topics I attended were for Bing carb tuning and synchronization, rebuilding a rear drive, Bing carbs explained, Airhead Q&A with an expert, and Airhead schematic and wiring. Lots of fun!
